Wristband Popularity Deeper Than Fashion
“Livestrong” is still going strong. At times, the popularity of the yellow bracelets and other rubber wristbands seems like another fashion trend. Bracelets in numerous colors exist for a multitude of causes at a variety of retailers.
Since most of the bracelets cost $1 apiece, the wristbands are an inexpensive but significant accessory for many students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
But how can students be sure their money is going toward a good cause?
Approximately 55 million Livestrong bracelets have been purchased since the campaign started in May 2004, said Jennifer Halpin, public relations manager for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
