Orlando Magic and their Reminderbands
Before the game with the Trail Blazers, team operations manager Rodney Powell pulled out some rubber bands he keeps in stock. Not just any rubber bands.
They’re as important to point guard Jameer Nelson as his uniform and shoes. He wears them around his wrists for every game, and they’re printed with inspirational messages. One message is for Imani, his girlfriend and mother of his children. Another message is for his son. Another message reads, “Strictly business.”
Guards Keyon Dooling and Carlos Arroyo also wear bands with messages dedicated to their families.
“Jameer started it last year. He got it from Steve Francis,” Powell said. “They don’t play without them.”
The bands are custom-made by a company in Logan, Utah, called Reminderband Inc.
