Bands urge player to try harder

Al Thornton’s bracelets tell it all. The soft-spoken Thornton wears a rubber bracelet on each wrist with the phrase ”next step” written on each.

After leading the Seminoles in scoring a year ago, many thought Thornton would jump from the college ranks, but Thornton spurned NBA riches and returned for his senior season to take the Seminoles — not his career — to the next level.

”It was a tough decision,” Thornton said of his choice to return to school. “Playing in the NBA is a lifelong dream, but I want to get Florida State to the NCAA Tournament and get Florida State basketball recognized on a national level.”…

‘It is an honor to have all of these accolades, but I am going to have to prove it all over again,” Thornton said.

If it is up to Thornton, his bracelets will be replaced with a championship ring.
