Bands urge friends and family to “Pray for Emily”

On the rural roads of Morgantown and nearby towns you’ll find them near farms, on homes and on church billboards, signs that ask you to “Pray for Emily.”
From Emily’s hometown of Morgantown, to towns miles away, more than 700 signs have been placed. At her high school, friends are wearing T-shirts, arm bands and rubber bracelets in support of Emily. On the Internet, thousands of visitors to an online journal, have sent well wishes from as far away as Florida and Arizona.

“We hear all the time that people that don’t even know her are praying for her and I think it’s paying off,” said Wertzberger. “I knew it would leave a big impact on a lot of people. But in the ways it has, this is something entirely new that we haven’t seen before.”
