Coach gives three senior basketball players bands…

Liz Bartle and the Brown City girls basketball team are looking for respect this season.

Her coach, Cindy Burton, even had silicone bracelets made up for Bartle and the team’s other seniors -Kayla Green and Jessica Miller - with the word emblazoned on them to remind them.

Brown City has been running with its respect mantra since the beginning of the season, wanting to make up for the season before where Bartle said the team didn’t live up to expectations.

“This season a lot of people didn’t expect us to do much,” she said. “So it drives us that much more.”

Said Burton: “It’s just something we talked about to have something to focus on.”

The three seniors with the bracelets all help to drive that message home, as Burton said they are the vocal leaders of the team. But she added there are freshman, sophomores and juniors that lead by example as well.
