WildChild Bracelets Boost Conservation Efforts
Conservation Corporation Africa, the continent’s largest collection of luxury safari lodges and its foremost proponent of ecotourism, has greatly enhanced its conservation reach with the launch of “Wildchild” - a program that aims to promote environmental awareness by educating children from local communities on the wildlife and natural resources around them.
“Wildchild”, sponsored in partnership with Africa Foundation, is one of CC Africa’s longest running not-for-profit projects, educating over 6,000 children in the past ten years.
Recently, CC Africa introduced “Wildchild” wristbands sold to CC Africa guests for R50 ($10 US dollars). Each wristband purchased allows a child from a neighboring community to participate in a conservation lesson conducted by a professional CC Africa ranger and tracker. Activities include a local game drive, environmental talks, quizzes and other activities centered on various aspects of conservation. In the past three months alone, enough money has been raised to provide lessons for an additional 2,000 children.
While CC Africa has long been closely affiliated with its lodge’s surrounding communities, it takes particular interest in working with children - realizing that tomorrow’s diverse natural resources stand a better chance of survival if today’s youth is educated about its environment.
“Wildchild” wristbands are available at all CC Africa lodges and online at guestshopping@ccafrica.com
What a great way to use silicone bracelets to do some good in this world. I think the choice of phrase was very original and a great choice. (Comments added by moderator)
